Asian American Culinary Fundraiser: East West Eats

The Asian American Journalists Association San Francisco Bay Area Chapter is once again partnering with top Asian American chefs from the region to bring back the elegant culinary event, East West Eats: An Evening with the Bay Area's Best Chefs.

The culinary fundraiser will feature Master Chef Chef Martin Yan providing cooking demonstrations, plus a spectacular menu of fine Asian cuisine at 6 p.m., June 14, 2009, at the San Francisco War Memorial & Performing Arts Center Green Room. The event also will feature a silent auction, beer, wine, tea tasting and entertainment.

"East West Eats promises to be an unforgettable night dedicated to amazing food and a wonderful cause," said Ryan Kim, president of AAJA SF and event organizer.

East West Eats is a fundraiser for student journalism scholarships. As part of its commitment to promoting diversity in newsrooms, AAJA SF awards up to $15,000 a year in scholarships to deserving students interested in pursuing journalism careers.

East West Eats 2009 Chairman Chef Martin Yan will be providing cooking demonstrations. Cuisine from the following restaurants also will be featured: Betelnut, Butterfly, Crustacean, Hilton San Francisco, Le Colonial, Living Room Events, Maharani, Namu, Napa Silverado, Poleng Lounge, Ponzu, Shanghai 1930, Slanted Door and Urban Tavern. Beverages will be provided by Chang Beer, Ku Day Ta Tea Lounge, New Zealand Winegrowers and Vitamin Water.

Silent Auction items will be provided by Bay Area photographers and artists, Mountain Hard Wear, and many others.
