DESCRIPTION:The Asian American International Film Festival is the firs
 t and longest running festival in the country devoted to showcasing fi
 lms created by media artists of Asian descent and about the Asian comm
 unity\n\nThis year, AAIFF will present a showcase of original feature 
 films, short films, documentaries, and other works by artists from thr
 oughout the world. Beginning July 23 and running through July 26, AAIF
 F 09 will feature screenings and workshops at Clearview Chelsea Cinema
 s, the School of Visual Arts Theater and the newly constructed Museum 
 of Chinese in America.\n\n\n\nFounded in 1978, AAIFF harbors a unique 
 curatorial vision. More than an expression of collective identity, the
  festival is anchored by the distinct contributions of its members. It
  is a platform for filmmakers of all backgrounds to develop the constr
 ucts of Asian cinema and cultivate the next generation of talent. 32 y
 ears after its inception, AAIFF continues to be a leading showcase for
  Asian American film and video, placing a substantial focus on local a
 nd independent works and working to enrich New York’s Asian arts com
