Am I really missing something (perhaps Tony Leung Chiu Wai's junk?) by not watching this on the Big Screen? I definitely want to see it but it's only playing at the Landmark's Opera Plaza here in SF. The theatres there are really just glorified screening rooms at best...
Forreals, someone give me the low-down as well - what exactly is causing people to fly from China to Hong Kong to watch the unedited version? And all this talk about the edited versus the un-edited version. Dude, if this movie is truly NC-17, I expect FULL HARD CORE ANG LEE PORNOGRAPHY.
OK people hyped this movie up to a point where it was inevitable I would not enjoy it. The first time I watched it, it was a pirated version from the mainland, so all the sex scenes were edited out. Then I read an article explaining why the Chinese government edited it out: the sex scenes were too acrobatic and they were afraid if people tried it, they would get hurt. OMFG. So now... I HAVE to get a hold of the original, right?
I finally do and...well I know everybody's got a different level of experience when it comes to coital engagements, but bleh. Not impressed. Which further leads me to believe everyone in the Chinese government has extremely boring sex lives.
